Jay's Story - When you judge a book by it's cover...

Tell me if you've ever thought or said this to another person: "I don't get it, how can you not like your body?"

Yep, me too.

This was before I got into the Body Confidence world. I'd take a look at a friend who I considered beautiful and wonder what on earth they had to complain about. Even if you put my biases aside, I just couldn't comprehend how they could be in a place where they loathed their appearance.

It just doesn't make it sense, right? Yet, somehow, we still have the short-sightedness to not apply this level of thinking to ourselves. When our loved ones level the same dismay upon us, we shrug it off, as if we're unique in our distaste of appearance. What makes you so special?

Below I'm sharing a story/testimonial written by Jay who had a body confidence shoot with me.

Jay:

It's crazy when I look at these photos it's almost like I'm looking at them through someone else's eyes. I look so beautiful, strong and confident. I would never expect myself to say that.

When I first saw my first, I immediately wondered "is that me"? Yes, I still see the imperfections in my skin and the stretch marks on my body, but to me, they make me unique and who I am. As I've grown and turned into a woman, I can truly appreciate my body for what it is now.

There were some nerves at the beginning of the shoot of course, but after a few mins with Merv it all felt so easy. He made me feel so relaxed and comfortable, laughing and joking the whole time.

The shoot brought out the inner confidence I didn't think I had. The smiles are very genuine here folks! Looking at these photos from an outsider's perspective someone may think 'god she is a beautiful, confident woman with no insecurities'. I believe this journey of mine should be testimony that everyone has their own insecurities - even the most beautiful supermodels in the world (not saying I am one haha).

Coming from an open family, I feel grateful and lucky that I had such a positive female body outlook and a positive sexual influence from my mother and grandmother growing up.

My shoot with Merv will be one of my many achievements in life that I will be forever thankful that I had the guts to do. I know that I can always take a look at these photos to remind myself how beautiful and confident I am if I'm ever having a down day.

Merv is one of these unique people that you find in life on an amazing journey to help educate and bring out the body confidence image that women in this day and age need.
